Description
Bucephalandra Black Cherry: A Dark Jewel for Aquascapes
is a striking aquatic plant admired for its deep coloration and elegant leaf shape. This variety belongs to the genus Bucephalandra, a group of tropical rheophytic plants native to the island of Borneo.
What makes Bucephalandra Black Cherry particularly appealing is its dark foliage. The leaves often display shades of deep green, dark maroon, or almost black tones with hints of cherry-red coloration. Under suitable aquarium lighting, the leaves may also show subtle iridescent reflections that enhance the plant’s ornamental beauty.
In its natural habitat, Bucephalandra species grow attached to rocks and driftwood along fast-flowing rainforest streams. For this reason, should not be planted directly into the substrate. Instead, aquascapers typically attach the rhizome to hardscape elements such as driftwood, lava rock, or decorative stones. Over time, the plant naturally anchors itself and develops new leaves.
