Description

Hymenophyllum sp. Kalbar

Hymenophyllum sp. Kalbar is a rare tropical filmy fern originating from the humid forests of West Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. Belonging to the genus Hymenophyllum, this species is admired for its incredibly thin, almost translucent fronds that give the plant its characteristic “filmy” appearance. The delicate leaves often appear soft and lace-like, allowing light to pass through them, which creates a unique and elegant visual effect in naturalistic terrarium environments.

In its natural habitat, Hymenophyllum sp. Kalbar grows in constantly moist and shaded conditions, typically attached to mossy rocks, tree trunks, or damp forest substrates. The plant thrives in areas with high humidity, stable temperatures, and filtered light under the dense rainforest canopy. Because of these ecological preferences, it has become increasingly popular among terrarium enthusiasts and rare plant collectors who want to recreate a miniature rainforest ecosystem.
